Hi all,
So my friend has a macbook pro that has a failing hard drive. By using my windows PC, can I take her hard drive, boot into acronis recovery, and recover her old hard drive into a new hard drive?
I know imaging isn't possible, but I should be able to clone it to a new hard disk and just pop the new hard disk into the mac book right?
Most network cards and routers allow you to set a custom MAC address, overriding the MAC address present in the hardware. Cloning a MAC address, or changing the MAC address on one device to the MAC address associated with a different device, can be useful when an Internet connection is associated with a particular MAC address. I don't think the mac os and file system observe the same geometry, boot sector rules, etc. So a restore might not get you a bootable sysem disk.
I think mac has it's own built in backup program. Can she restore from that?
What about this...
use carbon copy cloner or superduper
or just use time machine...
Is it possible to use the TIH 2011 bootable media to create a disk clone? I have a 1TB external USB drive I have been using for all my laptop backups (upto three now :( ) and would like to use the same process of - Boot from CD, Clone Disk, Store on USB drive.

When it boots into TIH is doesnt show the local disk on my Mac Pro.
Matthew,
It is possible to use the 2011 bootable media to create clones in general, but not on Mac computers.
During development of Node.JS, you may need to clone a GitHub reposity to local mac computer. A repository on GitHub is a remote repository. You can clone the repository to your mac computer in order to create a local copy and sync between the two locations.
1. Open the main page of the repository in browser. click Clone or download.
2. Click the Copy icon to copy the clone URL for the repository.
3. Open Terminal on your mac. You can do this by openning Launchpad and search for Terminal. Once it’s opened, you can right-click the Terminal icon in dock and choose “Options > Keep in Dock” so that you can open it directly from dock next time.
